All we know China and the US are in a trade war. In this sense, Huawei has a serious conflict with major American software developers and manufacturers. As a result, the Chinese tech giant has had to lay off two-thirds of its R&D personnel in the US-based FutureWei company. The company at the moment is going to relocate the US R&D center to Canada. But before this happens the manufacturer has to work on upcoming models not to lose the popularity and authority it has at the moment. As a reminder, Huawei is the world’s second smartphone maker after Samsung, and it’s the number one smartphone manufacturer in its homeland.
Previously, we have heard Huawei is working on the next-gen UI system, namely EMUI 12. Moreover, most of the sources have been claiming it will be ready by August 2021. But surprisingly, none of them is sure EMUI 12 will be based on Android. As you know, because of the US’ ’entity list’, Huawei can’t use any product made in the US without a license. This also refer to Android created by Google. So there is every reason to think it may be based on Harmony OS.
Let’s see what the net is talking about and what new features EMUI 12 will bring to the users.
List of EMUI 12 Features
The feature to come our way from EMUI 12 is the enhanced battery saving mode. Due to AI and system optimization, the phone will be able to stay alive for a long time when the power is almost drained.
With the launch of EMUI 12, all Huawei smartphone users will get a new video editor, in which you can edit and crop any video. It should come with many amazing functions such as video template, video effects, stickers, and audio editor.
The new Huawei smartphones will come with enhanced audio performance. But this will be done not only on the hardware level but the software level as well. In this sense, EMUI 12 will offer a new audio enhancing tool, including Deep Bass and 3D surround sound options.
Huawei has already started integrating its voice assistant, namely Huawei Assistant. As the name suggests, it implement the same functions as Google Assistant. The latter will bring a new level of smart performance to users, helping them to find services and information regardless of the place they are.
One of the most required features of any OS is the Dark Mode. Undoubtedly, EMUI 12 will support this mode, which reduces eye strain and saves battery. This doesn’t mean the phone will offer a black UI. Nope, you will be able to change the colors according to your preferences.
Devices to Upgrade to EMUI 12
Of course, the first smartphones to change the EMUI version are considered to be the current flagship machines. But before that, we are sure EMUI 12 will come on board of the Huawei P40 series. Then, it should appear on the Nova line handsets, and only after that, it will be available on the Mate 40 line smartphones.
